For many of us on this Reformation Sunday, verses of "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" are still ringing in our ears! On this Reformation Sunday we had John 8:31-36, where Jesus shares how we are to be one of his disciples, we need to "continue in my word... you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." On this Reformation Sunday morning, we focused upon how Martin Luther continued in God's Word, so that he would know the truth that make all of us free through our Savior Jesus. The truth that makes all of us free comes from God's grace, love and forgiveness, through Jesus' life, death and resurrection, so we have our salvation and not from what we do or need to purchase of "indulgences" (what the church of Luther's day used to guarantee one's salvation.) This Reformation Sunday morning we looked upon what would happen if we individually continue in God's Word and how we would live in the truth that makes us free and share that truth with others? Finally, coming from a week's vacation attending the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis, we looked at possible movies currently in our theaters that can help encourage us to be the reformers who share the truth that sets us free with others. Like with Martin Luther, Jesus calls upon all of us to be his disciples, we need to continue in the reading of God's Word and live and share the truth of Jesus, that will make all of us free!
Encouraged and excited where through the Holy Spirit, we as reformers will live and share the truth of Jesus that makes all of us free!
Peace in the truth and freedom of Jesus our Savior!
